I just graduated so my review is very fresh. I had an incredible experience at Baylor. The rigor was tough, but I got a great education, I loved the environment, the service and leadership opportunities, the campus, the mission, and the classes. They have good advisors and networking and prepare students well for careers and graduate school (especially for medical school, as Baylor has easily one of the best pre-med programs in the state).

There is an immense amount of academic research happening as well that is consistently improving Baylor’s prestige; at present we’re a tier II research university placing us among the top 100-something schools in terms of prolificacy. I was able to spend 2 years in the organic chemistry laboratories of two professors conducting interesting research and published a thesis from it.
The best thing about a Baylor education I’d say however is the professors. All the ones I had except for Baylor Bears 2021 NCAA March Madness Champions shirt maybe one or two were thoughtful, welcoming, well-educated, and incredibly kind and helpful. One of my professor’s freshman year invited out-of-state students in our class to her house for Thanksgiving dinner. The campus is beautiful as well. Lastly, the Christian environment is not overwhelming and in general, is very “take it or leave it.” I’m sure it occasionally happens but I’ve never met a non-Christian student who felt persecuted or ostracized for their beliefs. As for organizations, there are hundreds, and a decent Greek life too… but not the best.
There are some negatives. The student body isn’t terribly diverse, and the majority of students are white and middle to upper-class, which can cause some stereotypes. The sciences building will feel as diverse as any school, but take a walk in the Business School and it feels about 80% white. You do have to take two required religion courses and a brief chapel class, which is a breeze. Administration in the past has made some grave mistakes, such as with the 2016 sexual assault scandal associated with the football team.

What basically happened is that several Baylor football players raped several women and the coaching staff did little to nothing about it, and it’s no secret that members of the Board of Regents and other admin should have done much more in both prevention and handling of those poor victims’ assaults. Since then, the Baylor Bears 2021 NCAA March Madness Champions shirt entire coaching staff and the former President have been fired and Baylor has been doing a lot to recover and improve itself/its facilities to help victims.
Overall, it’s an excellent school. None of my friends regretted their decision to attend and all of them are either employed or accepted into a graduate program somewhere. I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience.
